MASS Team Relay

Well we started the season of with a bang... kinda. The bang you may have heard was Chris Latteman slamming into a tree and potato chipping his front wheel. As for results; we got 19th place and finished 15 laps in 4 hours and 6 minutes. The kicker is we were beat by 8 teams who did fewer laps. Yay for handicapped points, of which we had none. Oh well, it was fun. Next up on the sked- "T-bones bangout" (wooo spring break), followed by Michaux Maximus. Check out Chris Latteman's race report on his blog.

Bilenky Urban Cross

Riding over railroad ties, a run-up into and out of a gutted R/V, toxic puddles of liquid car waste, and a ramp ride up and over a full sized pick-up truck bed. These are the highlights of Bilenky cycleworks' first ever urban cyclocross race. Held in the junkyard next to Bilenky's workshop it was 50 minutes of hilarity.

Check out some of the photos via Bilenky's site here and some from Dailey of the PBMA here. I took a second place finish behind Emerson of Bike Therapy, but frankly we both lost the smelling like roses award. I was so soaked with toxic sludge that when I tried to warm myself next to a barrel fire, my pants started to let off black smoke. Despite the possible exposure to carcinogens it was one of the most fun things I've done all year.

Guy's Cross

There was more mud. That's the simple way to describe day two of New Hope's cyclocross weekend. This race was sponsored by Guy's bike shop and was the companion of the Evolution racing event held a day earlier. A week of steady rain saturated the racecourse and made for a mucky bog fest. It wasn't really clear whether it was faster to run, ride, or slide through the course.

Bear Creek

I rode my bike at a ski resort. There was a race going on so I had to ride faster than normal. I like it when my bike goes over bumpy things. That's just the kind of guy I am. Some people decided to get in my way. I had to ride over and/or through them. Some might call this heartless, but I'm not one of those people so it's okay. A portion of the race went up a lot. Then there were parts where stuff went down. Both were pretty cool I guess. After it was all over I ate some food. Then I got a trophy. Not a trophy for eating food, but a trophy honoring my skillz on a mountain bike. Now if there was a trophy that honored me for both I'd be pretty stoked.

We Love To Keep It Simple

Since 2004 Trophy Bikes has sponsored Team Shiftless, one of the most unique cycling teams in the Mid-Atlantic region. In a very small amount of time as a grass roots team we've compiled some impressive results and grown to a group of over 15 riders. Racing on bicycles with only one gear we believe that competitive cycling doesn't have to be complicated. The team's grueling competition schedule starts in Spring and lasts until the onset of Winter spanning the disciplines of Mountain, Track, and Cyclocross racing. We are quickly becoming known in the biking world, being featured in Cycling News and Bike Magazine.
